I saw Mr Darren Chester several months after a separate gastric surgery (sleeve gastrectomy) for weight loss. The amazing surgeon who performed this surgery recommended Mr Chester when I asked about post surgery correction. I had lost a lot of weight and i had a large apron around my middle which i found uglier following weight loss.
After several meetings with Mr Chester and discussing the various options in detail, we (an important point - it was entirely collaborative) agreed that a fleur de lis abdominoplasty would produce the results that i wanted, and that was to simply remove the large fold of skin around my middle and hips, lift my pubis area, repair my muscle damage inside my tummy, and help the bulbous fatty areas under my breasts.
Mr Chester was very strict about certain conditions i had to meet to be ready for surgery ensuring that the procedure was as safe as it could be, and this meant some frustrating delays on my part, but also shone a light on the professionalism and well-deserved fine reputation of this surgeon who did not compromise on safe conditions.
The surgery went very, very well, and recovery was as expected. I have to be honest and tell you that this surgery is far from simple, and the affected area is extensive (hundreds of stitches inside and out). The pain and discomfort is horrendous for almost two weeks (for me) and i only felt recovered to a relatively ‘normal’ position after about 4 weeks or so.
Neverleless, the outcome for me is life changing. The psychological torment i have suffered my entire life was lifted immediately, and now i feel like a new woman with a total new lease of life. The surgery was everything i could have hoped for, and the results fantastic. After almost a year, my scarring is fading and barely numb now, and i have only one small area which is a little raised but other than that the scarring is absolutely unbelievable bearing in mind the extent of the operation.
My tummy isn’t washboard flat (which i know some women want); i asked to look natural, and being a larger framed person and one who has always been overweight, i wanted to look womanly and more ‘round’. Mr Chester couldn’t possibly have done a better job. Whilst my tummy is firm, i look very natural for my size and I'm 100% happy (and amazed everyday) by the results. My hips are smooth, and again look natural and i’m delighted with the results.
Mr Chester and the team at Droitwich Spa Hospital provided amazing care and support, and it made a the difficult experience of surgery into one that i can look back on with much relief and gratitude.
I can’t recommend Mr Chester highly enough, and I would be pleased to talk through my experience with anyone should it be necessary (Mr Chester can put you in touch with me). Real life experience would have helped me enormously before my surgery.

Mr Chester performed an Apronectomy on my stomach following 3 x previous NHS operations in 3 years following Prostrate Cancer (Prostrate removal and subsequently two incisional hernia operations - the latter a reconstruction which did result in my lower stomach overhanging). I was recommended Mr Chester by one of my surgeons.
Mr Chester is something special! He displayed the utmost respect for me following previous complications and performed his magic on my stomach from side to side. Not only his skill as a top surgeon, but his demeanour towards me as a patient and my wife placed us booth at ease. His follow up consultations clearly showed he cares about his work and producing great results to his patients. I now play golf again which indicates the level of his handiwork! I highly recommend Mr Chester and would not hesitate in using him again!

Mr. Chester not only being an excellent surgeon, has an unbeatable bedside manner, very comfortable with husband or partner being present for all examinations, intimate our case, in fact encourages the support of one of the above. keeps you informed at every stage of the procedure, in our case as surgery took longer than expected, sent a member of the theatre staff to where we were waiting to inform us us of the delay and that there was nothing to worry about. Post surgery visited the room, to check on how I was doing, even the following morning prior to him going to theatre visited again and after prior to leaving for the day. the post operative care took 12 months and in the first 3 months we had visits to see Mr. Chester, twice a week, then every two weeks, until he was satisfied that we could then go to Monthly, then 3 monthly and then 6 monthly.
We can only say that we cannot recommend Mr. Chester highly enough.

Mr Chester came recommended to me by a friend and after doing lots of my own research and reading all of his reviews (all extremely positive) I decided to meet with him to discuss having a breast augmentation and abdominoplasty (breast enlargement and tummy tuck). Mr Chester was extremely approachable and it was obvious that he put my safety first so I felt totally happy, comfortable and confident in him to carry out the procedure for me. I was unsure of which volume of breast implant to choose so asked him to make the final decision during surgery to best fit my frame which he did perfectly. I am over the moon with the results which have exceeded my expectations. Mr Chester is absolutely lovely and has been personally contactable for any questions / queries I’ve had along the way. I would have no hesitation in recommending him, he’s fantastic!

Was very understanding of my daughter's needs, sent us away to talk it through with her as she has learning disabilities and autism. Went through every possible scenario with us, still receiving fantastic aftercare 7 months after her breast reduction. Always has plenty of time for you and has done an amazing job of my daughter's breasts. Her life is so much better now and she thinks that Mr Chester is just the best man in the world

Mr Chester is a consultant plastic surgeon. He qualified from the University of Birmingham Medical School in 1995 with Honours in Pharmacology. He was trained in plastic surgery in the West Midlands. He is on the GMC specialist register for plastic surgery and was awarded the prestigious McGregor medal for achieving the highest mark in the FRCS(Plast.) examination. He has worked in the field of plastic surgery for the last 15 years and was appointed a consultant at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham (formerly Selly Oak Hospital) in 2007. He also provides the plastic surgery service for Worcestershire (Kidderminster Hospital and Worcestershire Royal Hospital).
